When should I use designations?

Generally speaking, designations are designed to help mark your contribution as belonging to the primary or the general election (noted with a designation of "primary" or "general"). However, teams can feel free to use the field as needed, for example, to mark what entity your contributions come through (Victory Fund, etc). Designations can be applied to contributions manually one by one or applied in bulk via bulk import or bulk actions. Designations are also exportable on the All Contributions export or a custom Contributions export. Read on for all the ways you can utilize designations in your platform:

Bulk Action: You have the ability to bulk add, update, and remove designations on contributions via bulk actions

  • To get started on this particular bulk action, select the contributions tab. You can filter for a specific timeframe, by import file name, etc. Once you have the contributions needing an update visible in the table, select the top left-hand box to select the contributions. Be sure to select all contributions, if the amount yielding is more than the selected amount in the table.
  • Select the action open and from the dropdown select designations

  • A slideout will appear on the right-hand side and if you a designation has already been created in the platform, it will appear in the dropdown. If it hasn't been created, no worries, you can type in the field and create it on the spot. Add or update the designation in this slideout. By also providing no designation (it being blank in the field provided), the selected contributions will have their designations removed.

Export: When you export contributions via an All Export type, the designation will now be an exported property.

Filtering from the Contacts tab: Looking to create a calltime list for contacts who have contributions with a designation of victory fund? You can do that!

  • From the contacts tab, select Add Filter and contributions from the available filter options

  • Provide the details necessary in the designation filter option and select apply filter to yield results
