How do I create a broadcast email template?
First things first! About ready to send your first email?
Start with a Message Template and design your emails with your committee's assets, on-brand header styles, body styles, and button colors. Choose an existing template, use the default options, or design a brand new look. Once you create a template to your liking, you’ll be able to choose and apply this template to your email in your email editor's next step.
To create a new Email Template:
- Navigate to the Email Broadcasts tab on the middle left side of your screen
- Select the Templates button at the top right of your screen
- From the Email Broadcast Templates tab, you will see the first generic template built out for you. You can select + Add email broadcast template to create a new template or select the orange Edit button to modify the template provided.
- Edit any and all of the following sections of your template (See below for details on each section): General, Body, Header, Footer, and Buttons
- Click the Update Email Broadcast Template button to save your changes before returning to the Email Broadcast tab
- To apply this template to your emails, add a New Email Broadcast. On Step 3: Message, you can keep the Primary template or you can click from the drop down and choose your preferred style.
If you are drafting a message and notice an element you'd like to modify at the template level, select the Manage button above the email preview to be taken to the chosen template.
What parts of an Email Template can I customize?
From the Email Broadcast Templates editor, you can add detail that customizes the look and feel of your emails so that they fit your committee or organization's branding. You can also create other templates that appear different than your team's branding to introduce a new theme for certain email campaigns (e.g. A Note from the Candidate or emails that center on contributing toward Merch). See below for details on each section of your Email Broadcast Template editor:
- General - Choose the internal name for your template such as “Campaign-Branding” or “Blue-Palette” that your team can identify as the best template to apply to certain emails. Check off the Primary Template option if you want this template to be used for all emails (Note: You can still opt for a different template when building your email).
- Body - Set font family, main text size and color, padding of your margins, and the width and color of the body of your email.
- Header and Footer - Set the leading and closing graphic of your email with an image (e.g. logo), background, text, padding settings.
- Buttons - Choose the colors of your calls to action and button groups
