How do I create a petition?
A petition is a Numero Action Page available in Numero CRM platforms that allows you to collect basic information from people like their name, email, phone, zip, etc while asking supporters to add their name to a petition. A petition form requires a name, email, and zip while a signup form is less restrictive with field requirements.
To create a petition head to the Action Pages tab found in the Numero Processing section of your left-hand menu. Select the +New Page button and select the Petition option.
In the Basic Information section, begin by giving this form a name. Note that this name will be present in the URL so make sure it's a name you are ok with being public-facing. Select a template for your form (read more about making Action Page templates here). You have the option to select a source code or a member code so that your submissions on this form are automatically coded when submitted. This can be a helpful differentiator when filtering for submissions but isn't required.
Next you'll customize the elements of the petition. Enter a Petition Headline and Petition Supporting Text to tell donors what signing this petition means. You'll be able to preview your petition on the right.
Then you'll decide which fields of information (Form Components) you would like the donor to provide in order to submit the form. You choose from First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone, Address, City, Zip, State, Country, Employer, and Occupation but note that a petition does require a first & last name, a email, and a zip. You can opt to require or not require other fields by toggling the Yes/No toggle and you can remove fields using the trash can icon. Select from available new fields to include by using the Add Component button. The width of the fields can be full, 3/4, 1/2, or 1/4 depending on how much of the form you would like the box to fill. Using your preview image on the right will help you find the width for each field component.
You can change the text on your submit button as needed. You can also enable a custom disclaimer in this section by toggling that option to Yes. This might be a helpful place to input details about what that person's information will and will not be used for (ex: by providing us your phone number you agree to receive text messages- etc, please consult your legal/compliance team for appropriate language).
Thank your supporters for their submission by entering a customer Thank you Page Headline and a Thank you Page Supporting Text. You can view your updates on the right in the preview.
If you want donors to be redirected to a specific page after they submit their information toggle the Enable Custom Redirect option to Yes. Select your option, for Numero Action Pages or Contributions you'll select the appropriate Numero page. For ActBlue or Other, you'll enter the specific URL. When complete do not forget to select the purple Save Page button at the top right of your page. This button will change to say Update Page when you are making edits to an existing Action Page. You can also use the View Page button to view your completed page and copy and paste the URL to share.
Lastly, if you want to build a reference code into the page's URL or create a speedy give URL for a select contact, you can use the green Build URL icon to create a custom URL to share.
