How do I add a custom field to my action page?
Custom fields allow you to gather information from your supporters beyond Numero's default fields of State, Country, Address, City, Occupation, or Employer. Use a custom field on an Action Page and set it up so the submissions map to fields like Notes or Contact Codes so that you can filter for them in your database. Here's how:
- Navigate to the Action Page editor and scroll to the section entitled Form Components. Select 'Add a new one'
- From the Edit Custom Field slide, select a Custom Field type and add basic settings:
- Name- this field is required but is only used for reference internally in your database
- Category - If mapping to Contact Codes, you have the option to choose a corresponding category
- Contact Property - Choose whether the entry goes to the contact's Contact Codes, Bio, or Notes. Leave unselected if you do not want it to map to any of these.
- Under Field Settings, enter your question or prompt on the Label line. With each modification you will see the field update in the Preview window below.
- For each custom field type you will have various field options such as minimum character lengths (text), placeholder text (text), and max number of selections (checkboxes). Scroll over the tooltips to learn more about each of them. Select Save Field to lock in your new custom field
- Select Save Field to lock in your new custom field
- To add the newly customized field to your survey, navigate back to your Form Components section and search for it by Name, select Save to Add. You can also choose the width that the field should appear.
- Save your updated Action Page by selecting Update Page to the top right of your Action Page editor.
