What is the difference between 10DLC, Toll Free, and Short Codes and what do I have access to?

Before you start your texting plan, Team Numero will work with you to choose with option is best for you. Most of our customers will opt for a 10DLC number.

hen sending broadcast text messages through Numero, users are prompted to choose their preferred Sending Channel for each broadcast. We will work with you to help you obtain one or more of these number types during your account set up. 10DLC is the primary option followed by Toll Free and Short Code options. 10DLC Local

Ideal for low to moderate volume of highly personalized messages.
  • FORMAT: +1 XXX XXX-XXXX | 10-digit number with local area code. Can own several numbers and select during send.
  • AUDIENCE: Targeting opted-in subscribers (e.g. via form submissions or other imported lists).
  • VOLUME: Low to moderate volume with limit of 100K messages / day.
  • REGISTRATION: Requires campaign info, can take up to 7 business days.

Toll Free

Supports moderate to high volume with highly personalized messages.
  • FORMAT: +1 8NN XXX-XXXX | 10-digit number starting with 1-8NN. Only one registered per campaign.
  • AUDIENCE: Targeting opted-in subscribers (e.g. via form submissions or other imported lists).
  • VOLUME: Optimized for moderate to high volume with no daily messaging limit.
  • REGISTRATION: Requires campaign and opt-in review, can take up to 14 business days.

Short Code

Designed for large-scale, high-volume traffic to strict opt-in audiences.
  • FORMAT: XX-XXX | 5 digit number. Can import existing short code for use with Numero.
  • AUDIENCE: Only for use with strict opt-in subscribers (e.g. have affirmed opt-in via text reply).
  • VOLUME: Supports high-volume traffic with superior deliverability and throughput.
  • REGISTRATION: Requires strict review of use-case and opt-in practices, can take up to 10 weeks.
