How do I opt out phone numbers or emails in bulk?

To indicate that contacts have opted out on their contact record in order to suppress them from broadcasts or from being contacted, you can opt them out of all platform phone communication or from specific broadcast channels. There are multiple ways this opt-out information come to be stamped and managed on a record:

• Bulk import from a list of opt-outs
• Individually updated from a contact record
• Responded to a broadcast triggering a Opt Out action

To import a list of opted-out numbers or email addresses:

1. Prepare a CSV file with only opted-out phone numbers or email addresses down one column. Import only one broadcast type (text or emails) at a time. Do not include a header.
2. From your Comms Center Text or Email Broadcast tab, select the Opt Lists button to be taken to your Phone Opt List tab.
   
3. To run a new Opt List, select the + Opt List button. From the Add Opt List slideout, make your selections and notes including: Name for your opt list.
   • Choose the Action: Opt Out if these numbers should not be contacted.
   • Message Format
     • [EMAIL OPT-IN ONLY] Select the email address format of your file. Address, Uppercase Address, Hashed Address, and Hashed uppercase Address are all various formats of email address options for your upload.
     • [PHONE OPT-IN ONLY] Select the Number format of the numbers on your file (Number +1 (202) 555-0123, Numeric 12025550123, National (202) 555-0123, or National Numeric 12025550123)
     • [PHONE OPT-IN ONLY] Choose the Sending Channel, if applicable, that these contacts have opted out of (10DLC, Toll Free, or Short Code) communication. If there is no specific sending channel selected, that number will appear opted out of all phone communication on this platform.
   • Run on Upload: Keep toggled to Yes to run it against your contacts immediately. Select No to create the list and save it, so it is available to run when you are ready.
4. To save, select the "Add Opt List" button. The status of your opt list import will be visible from the Phone Opt List tab. 
5. To run this list against your contacts again, visit your Phone Opt List tab and select the three dots to the right of your list. Select "Run Opt List". 

To update an individual contact record:

1. From a profile, under the contact's Phones section, select the pencil icon to edit the specific phone number you wish to update. 
2. You can toggle the contact's Opted Out? setting from 'Yes' to 'No' to opt out the entire phone number from all phone communication OR you can open the Broadcast Settings, and check the appropriateOpt Out box.
3. Select the white 'Save' button to save your changes.
