How do I create a manual refund in my CRM?

Sometimes you may need to record a refund in the CRM as the money was returned to the donor and you need to accurately reflect that return in your CRM. You can manually record refunds in your CRM but this does not actually issue a refund to your donor. You will still need to follow the payment processor's instructions (click here for Numero refund instructions) for issuing the refund or cut a check to the donor if the funds were directly given to the campaign. 

1. To manually adjust the contribution to reflect a full or partial refund, open the contribution and select the add refund button in the bottom left corner. 

Note that if this is a Numero contribution you'll have 2 refund options: Record Refund (purple button) and Issue Refund (orange button). if you do not want to return funds to the donor be sure to select the Record Refund option.

2. This will open the Add Refund side panel where you can enter the partial or fully refunded/reallocated/reattributed amount, the date of the refund as well as any notes you may have regarding the refund. Select Add Refund when complete. 

3. The new amount of the contribution or $0 if fully refunded or reallocated/reattributed, will be updated automatically and the refunded amount will be displayed at the bottom of the contribution.
