How do I add contacts who have no First or Last Name OR an Incomplete Name into my database?

Fundraising is done best when you know who exactly you're reaching out to. It fosters the best chance at a mutually beneficial relationship between the campaign and the donor. Similarly, your CRM is most powerful when you build robust profiles that include your contacts' Full Names, Email, Phone, and Address, etc. but we know that's not always possible! Sometimes you're starting with just a partial name, email or a phone number and building the contact profile from there. We refer to those contacts as nameless contacts

Adding Nameless Contacts

  1. Start from the Contacts tab of your CRM
  2. Select the +Add Contact button to the right
  3. Choose Individual if this is one person's email address or Organization, if appropriate
  4. Use the righthand slideout to add as much information as you have on the contact. Leave the first and last name properties blank if unknown. For Email Broadcast contact, be sure to include their email address(es)
  5. Select the purple Add Contact to save it to your database

Bulk Import a file with "Nameless" Contacts

When preparing your contacts file outside of Numero, you can import a file of all Nameless Contacts (i.e. all email addresses only) or you can import them as part of a file with lines of contacts that have Full Names.

When ready to import, follow:

  1. Step 1 (Upload file)
  2. Step 2 (Mapping) of an import - instructions
    1. Note: If a contact has only a first name or only a last name, you can map those properties
  3. On Step 3, switch toggle on the ability to import nameless contacts. Toggling to Yes is saying, "Yes, I'll allow any contact records that lack a first and last name to enter the database."
  4. Complete your import by selecting Finish

How these Profiles Appear in the Database

  • Their names will appear as "- -" in your Contacts tab and on their profiles.
  • You can filter/filter out/build audiences in your Contacts tab and database for Type: Unknown
  • Giving History results will not be available for nameless contacts
