What is an email broadcast audience and how do I create one?

Your email broadcast audience is a subset of your database that will receive an email you create. In other words, these are the people you’re sending your email to. With each email you draft, you can tailor each email to your audience. We help you make the most out of your Numero database and supe up its fundraising power so you can grab existing Calltime Lists or Lists from your database and drag them right into your Audience builder. 

To create your Audience:

  1. Navigate to the Email Broadcasts tab on the middle left side of your screen
  2. Start by building your email by clicking the + New Email Broadcast button. You can also duplicate an existing email or edit an email that is currently being drafted.
  3. As your very first step, you will choose who your Target Audience is. You can choose from:
    1. All - Make no changes here and send to a cumulative group of all of your contacts who appear on Lists and Calltime Lists. You will see the total Audience number change on the top dark purple header bar.
    2. Lists - One of the existing Lists that your team has saved in your CRM. You can build really smart lists that fit certain affinity groups, locales, an endorser's contact list, PAC supporters, and more.
    3. Calltime Lists - Choose from your existing and unarchived Calltime Lists to send a bulk email to everyone you just finished calling. Or, perhaps you'll email them ahead of time so they know more about you before you connect.
    4. Original Audience - Build an original audience right from the Audience builder or you can start with any List or Calltime List then add more filters to narrow down your audience


To Use a List:

  • Save a new list (learn more) by navigating to your Contacts tab, filter your database down using various search parameters (e.g. Past Interactions, Contributions, locale details) and click Save at the top right to save this as a new list. Return to your Email Broadcast or create a new one, find the newly saved List, and drag it into the green Empty Audience section
  • Use an existing list that populates on the left hand side of the Audience page of your email editor. Drag and drop the subset into the green audience box to the right of your screen

To Use a Calltime List:

  • Save a new Calltime List by navigating to your Contacts tab or Lists tab. Identify the individuals you plan to call and email and select Send to App. Add all your calltime list details as needed (learn more). Return to your Email Broadcast tab, open an email, select the Calltime Lists (#) tab, drag and drop the list into your Empty Audience section
  • Use one or more existing Calltime Lists that populate under the Calltime Lists (#) tab by dragging and dropping the contact box into the green Empty Audience section

To Build an Original Audience:

  1. Start with a new email draft. 
  2. From the Audience tab, select the light purple Edit button on the righthand side of the page
  3. Click the Add Filter button to generate a new audience based on these search parameters. This functions similarly to your Contacts tab filters, but will automatically exclude any contacts who do not have email addresses on their record in your Numero database. You will se the number of contacts estimated to receive your email change above.
