Why are my voicemails dropping from a different number than my callback number?
Our Voicemail Drop tool is designed to drop from a randomly generated number. The randomly generated number will attempt to mimic the area code of the number receiving the Voicemail Drop to make the number feel more familiar.
When you're creating the Voicemail Drop template, as outlined in this article, you will be required to input a "Callback Number." The Callback number is not the number that the donor sees on their missed call from you. Rather, it's the number that will be used if the donor attempts to call you back.
For example, if you're dropping a Voicemail to a donor with the number 317-670-7341, they might see a missed call from a number like 317-680-1312. However, if that donor tried to call you back, the call would actually go to the number that you placed in the "Callback Number" field on the template, not the number that they see on their missed call.
