How do I create contact codes on an individual's profile, via bulk actions, or via bulk import?

Assigning contact codes to your donors can help you quickly filter for unique groups of people in your CRM. For example, if I wanted to easily sort for all of my neighbors in my CRM, I could give all of them a contact code of "Neighbor" and easily sort for them. Contacts can have as many contact codes as you would like, so if one of your neighbors happens to be a lawyer for example, you could also give them a contact code of "Lawyer". This article will walk you through how to create new contact codes in your CRM via an individual's profile or via bulk imports. There are three ways to create a new contact code. Either through an individual donor profile or through a bulk import of contacts.

Creating Contact Codes through an Individual Donor Profile:

1. From the Contacts tab in your CRM, select the individual donor you would like to add a contact code to

2. Hover over the top right corner of the donor's contact info and select the pencil icon to edit appropriate fields

3. In the Contact Codes field, start typing the code you want to create. Select Create and be sure to hit Save.

4. If you need to individually delete a contact code from a donor profile, you can select the red X and then select Save.

Creating Contact Codes through Bulk Importing:

1. When you Bulk Import a list of donors into your CRM, you can include contact codes in the contacts import template to create a new or include an existing contact code when being imported. You can include as many codes as you like, just separate them by commas

2. Once you have your list of donors in the contacts import template, you will then import your .csv file into your CRM. In the import mapping process, you will see that any contact codes in the .cvs file will be mapped to the contact code section in the donor's profile

3. You will see the new contacts codes that you have added in the donor's profile.
